Luca Ferrari

Luca Ferrari was born in Rome in 1977. In 2004 he graduated in Documentary Photography at the University of Wales, Newport with a BA and in 2005 at the University La Sapienza of Rome with a BA plus MA in Sociology.

He won several prizes and awards both in Italy and UK, included the Observer Hodge Award 2004, the Ian Parry Scholarship 2004, the Press Photographers of the year 2008, the honorable mention at Reportage Atri Festival 2010.

His work has been shown in London, Paris and Bogotà, at Fotoleggendo Festival 2010, Rome, and Winephoto Festival 2007.

In 2005 he published his first book “Rebibbia” on the Italian jail in Rome.

He completed reportages in Europe, former Yugoslavia, Sierra Leone, Colombia, India, Philippines and Sri Lanka.

In 2012 Luca has won  the section “Prospettive Italia” for best documentary at Rome Film Festival with “Pezzi” a portrait of criminals and previous offenders of Laurentino 38, a marginal area in the suburb of Rome.
