Justin Maxon has just been awarded with an Aaron Siskind Foundation grant for his work on gun violence in Chester.

The Aaron Siskind Foundation grant celebrates and encourages artistic achievement in contemporary photography. The grants range from $5,000-$10,000 and they are open to any U.S. citizen or resident who is working on a serious body of work which pushes the medium of photography forward.

Nearly 1500 photographers applied for the highly competitive grant this year. Six were selected. The other grant winners are Michelle Frankfurter, Wayne Lawrence, Joshua Lutz, Jenny Riffle and Sasha Rudensky. Time Magazine is featuring work by the six recipients of the 2013 grant with a slideshow of their varied and inspiring works in Time Lightbox.
