We are honored to announce that Kosuke obtained the Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography 2012 with his project : Fragments / Fukushima.
Launched in 2005, the goal of the grants program is to enable photographers to bring attention to significant social and cultural issues, as well as to take new and inspiring strides in creative work.
An additional feature this year will be the partnership with the Chris Hondros Fund, offering a new grant for the best coverage of a major news story over the past year.
“Kosuke Okahara’s “Fragments/Fukishima” looks at the devastation wrought by the meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power in Japan in March 2011. Kosuke says his two goals now are to “to try and identify what this disaster truly means to the world through imagery and audio interviews. The second is to collect the fragments of Fukushima for future generations.”
