Servola, Trieste – Italy
The steel mill in Trieste for the cityzens is simply known by the familiar name of “Ferriera”.
Located between the gulf and the residential areas of Servola and Muggia, the steel mill is property of Lucchini Group, now controlled for 62 % by the russian steel giant Severstal. It extends for 560.000 square meters, produces coke (coal-derived fuel) and cast iron, and employes about 500 workers.
A white-hot trip between flames and fires, channels of lava, flashes of smoke, liquid metals and blast furnaces that evoke Dante’s suggestions. A plece where working is a hard stuff.
