Rony Zakaria journeys from Anyer to Panarukan, down De Grote Postweg (The Great Post Road) encountering, experiencing, collecting along the 1,000 km long road.

What is today called Jalan Pantai Utara – Pantura for short, was constructed in the early 19th century under the direction of Dutch East Indies Governor Herman Willem Daendels, is a vital transportation artery. The road gives as quickly as it takes, shaping communities it runs through.

Zakaria, with and through his photography, follows the people and dimensions of class, ethnicity and religion that inhabit it.
