The Arlee Warriors are a high school basketball team from Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana. The Warriors recently won two back-to-back Class C State Championships and are the pride of their town. They also hold an heavy weight upon their shoulders. During the season that they had won their first State Championship there were a string of suicides in town that had affected the players, families and friends. Basketball helped the town get through this tremendously difficult time. This was a commissioned job for the New York Times Magazine and the photographs that were ultimately published were the result of three different trips over the course of a year.
