THE BLACK SEA

George left from Odessa in Ukraine where the summer tourism inevitably mixes with scenarios and encounters, witnesses of the recent conflict that has affected the region.

Along the Black Sea and through Serhiivka, the photographer crossed the coast of Moldova and Romania to finally arrive in Bulgaria, where picturesque tourists, thermal muds, circuses and fashion-shows clash with heavy industries, surreal monuments and children with military clothes, vestiges of the Soviet past.

During the summer, in these areas among the poorest of all Europe, you can clearly see the rise of a local middle class that mixes with tourists from all over the East Europe and Russia, looking for a low-cost holiday.
