THE YOUNG TURKS

Istanbul, Turkey

2008

The photographs were shot in the middle of Taksim Square, the heart of modern Istanbul.

The word Taksim has it’s origins in the arabic word for distribution or division and it is here that you see the widest range of Turkish people passing through, representing the character of modern turkey.

Turkey, with 45% of the population under 25 years has seen the opening of 73 new universities since 2000, doubling the previous number.

With reforms opening up more freedoms, is Turkey creating a new era of Young Turks who will define the future of Turkey?
