Pietro Masturzo

Pietro Masturzo (Napoli, 1980) is a documentary photographer and a photo-reporter whose work focuses on socio-political issues, with a particular interest in the resistance of peoples in the face of oppression and the violation of human rights.
Masturzo regularly collaborates with various Italian and international magazines and newspapers, including L’Espresso, Internazionale, Il Corriere della Sera, Republik, Le Monde, Geo, Marieclaire, The New Yorker and many others. His works have been widely exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in various galleries, festivals and museums including the Lower Belvedere in Vienna, The Nobel Peace Centre in Oslo, the House of Photography in Hamburg. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious “Picture of the Year” at the World Press Photo for his work in Iran.
Since 2015 he has been conducting projects using photography for social purposes, in collaboration with different associations and thanks to the support of Canon Italy.
In 2018 his first documentary film “Life is but a dream” was released and awarded with the audience prize at the 59th Festival dei Popoli.
